Obituary

Alois Julius Wuchner was born on January 13, 1935, in Watson, SK, to John and Martha (née Held) Wuchner. He was the third child in a family of six and grew up in the St. Gregor district where he attended Harvest School. Following his education he worked for his Uncle Alphonse, purchased farmland, and started his lifelong career of mixed farming northeast of St. Gregor. Al married the love of his life, Agnes Moorman on October 12th, 1963. They were blessed with four children, a daughter Ann, who died in infancy, a daughter Carolyn, and two sons – Warren and Lee. Al was an active member in church and community. He served on St. Gregory Parish Council for many years, was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, held positions on the St. Gregor Community Club and was a Board member of the St. Gregor Credit Union for 30 years. He also served 37 years on the St. Peter’s Conservation Board and the Lanigan Watershed Board. Al enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, and curling, especially in the family bonspiel. He loved camping at various lakes, especially Greenwater Lake, where you would find him striking up a conversation with anyone he met. Al and Agnes enjoyed many vacations with friends travelling to various places in United States such as, Alaska and Disneyland. They also travelled to Mexico, Costa Rica, Europe, and took several cruises with family. Al and Agnes retired to Humboldt in 1996, however, Al was still actively involved in the farm, especially during seeding and harvest. After moving to Humboldt, he enjoyed visiting with people and going for coffee with his many friends and neighbours. Al especially enjoyed the camping trips with “The Good Sam Club” to various places in Saskatchewan. He also cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchild. Al will be loving remembered and sadly missed by: his wife of 60 years, Agnes (née Moorman); one daughter, two sons and their families: Carolyn Wuchner of Saskatoon, SK; Warren (Leann) Wuchner, and family: Joshua, Alyssa, and Kelly all of St. Gregor, SK; Lee (Loriann) Wuchner, and family: Michael Wuchner and his daughter, Elsa, all of St. Gregor, SK, and Kendal (Manpreet) Jhass of Brampton, ON; his sister, Rita Crone; and by numerous brothers- and-sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his: daughter Ann (in infancy); parents John and Martha (née Held) Wuchner; sister Marie Suek; brothers: Herman, Martin, and Lawrence; and in-laws: Frank Suek and Donald Crone.
