Obituary

Anna Holfeld (née Simonson) was born on December 29, 1932 in Watson, Saskatchewan to Albert and Oline (née Fjelbirkeland) Simonson. She grew up on a farm near Quill Lake, SK and moved to the town of Quill Lake at the age of twelve when her father passed away. After graduating from Quill Lake High School, she attended Teachers’ College in Saskatoon, SK. She was a schoolteacher for several years in Sproule, SK; Margo, SK; Regina, SK; and Seven Persons, Alberta. While teaching at Sproule Country School, she met her husband, Conrad Holfeld. On November 15, 1958 they were married and their marriage was blessed with five children. They lived on the farm at Lampard, SK where they produced grain and cattle. Anna loved life on the farm and always looked back fondly on those years. She treasured her family, and we will always remember her as a kind, loving, and selfless mother and grandmother. Anna moved to Regina in 1998, and then to Saskatoon in 2016, where she lived until her passing. She leaves to treasure her memory: Karen (Barry) Maierhoffer, Jenna, Julia; Sheldon (Jackie), Kyle (Marley), Mark (Ashley), Ryan (Lisa), Troy; Rhonda, Sara (Brendan); Greg (Michele), Conrad, Callie; her eight great-grandchildren; her two sisters Clara Sitz, and Mary Woodward, both of Kelowna, British Columbia; and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Conrad; her daughter, Sheila; her parents, Albert and Oline (née Fjelbirkeland) Simonson; and her brother in infancy.

It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anna Helen Holfeld at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on April 24, 2021, at the age of 88.
