Arnold, the second oldest in a family of 10, was born to Max Sr. and Susan (née Langkammer) Mueller on June 11, 1925, in Humboldt, SK. He grew up on the family farm at Marysburg, SK, where they raised grain, livestock and, of course, horses. Arnold attended St. Henry’s School in Marysburg and completed Grade 8 before he had to quit to help on the farm. When he first started school, he could only speak German, so a lot of work had to be done to learn to speak, read and write English. Arnold was employed by Sask Wheat Pool as an elevator agent for a total of 35 years; the first 25 years were in Moseley, SK, and the last 10 were in Humboldt. In June 1950, Arnold married Dolores Flory and they started their life together in Moseley, where they raised four children, three daughters and one son. This past June, Arnold and Dolores celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary. Arnold was a very social person who was always ready to help with any job that had to be completed. He was the ice maker for the Marysburg Curling Club, and helped keep Assumption Church up and running. As well, Arnold was involved with building the Humboldt Golf Course, clearing bush, picking rocks or whatever was needed, and built the club storage lockers in the new clubhouse basement. His favorite pastimes were curling in the winter and golfing in the summer. The Family room walls were filled with shelves of golf and curling trophies which he was happy to show to everyone. Arnold was inducted into the Humboldt Sports Hall of Fame in 1998, and the Sask. Curling Association Legends of Curling Honor Roll in 2013. He golfed until he was 89, and curled almost as long. He always said: “I can make all of the shots that I call from behind the glass or from my chair”!

Arnold will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife of 70 years, Dolores (née Flory) Mueller; children: † YVONNE (Garry) Schatz; GLENN (Carrie) Mueller and family, Jennifer, Ryan (Aimee) and daughter Scout, Joylene (Kale) Mann and children Rogan, Marek and Eberlea; † SANDRA (Tom) Engele and family, Kara Anderson and children Kade, Peyton, Ryder and Jayce, Kimberly (Rick) Dell and children Jaxon and Nyla, Vanessa (Mike) Burns and children Callie and Benson; and DENISE (Mark) Silzer and family, Britany Silzer (Colin) and children Lexi, Brielle and Braxton, Vanna (Ford) Leggott and children Harlow and Kipton; siblings: Leonard, Harold (Ann), Jane (Murray) Schafer, and Max Jr. (Kathleen); and by sisters-in-law: Elaine Mueller and Joyce Pedley. He was predeceased by two daughters, Yvonne Schatz and Sandra Engele; parents, Max Sr. and Susan Mueller; parents-in-law, Eugene and Gertrude Flory; siblings: Margaret (Louis) Jaeb, Ralph (Louise) Mueller, Eileen (Tony) Berscheid, Daniel Mueller, and Doreen (Ron) Wadlow; and by sister-in-law, Geraldine Mueller.
