Obituary

Brian was born in Humboldt, SK, on September 6, 1950 to Tom and Nellie (née Casey) Harcourt. Until Grade One, he attended Caseyville School, and then in LeRoy, SK, where he graduated in 1968, and was nominated valedictorian by his class. He worked at a variety of jobs over the years, including the piggery, Ingahms in Lanigan, SK; various farmers, including his Dad for one year; Beaver Lumber; Peavey Mart; a sawmill in Radium, BC; in Calgary, AB; and as a bartender in the LeRoy Hotel. For many years, he farmed for Alvin Schafer until he was forced to retire due to COPD. He moved back to Humboldt and worked at Westland Rec in Watson, SK, and finally Mumby manufacturing in Muenster, SK. On July 22, 1972 Brian married Alice. They had two children, Denise and Colin, and the family lived on the farm with Tom and Nellie, moving later to Lanigan, and then to Oxbow, SK. Brian was a happy wanderer. He moved often and made friends everywhere he went, finally settling in Loon Lake and Makwa, SK. He married Colleen (née Maddin) on June 19, 1996 and with their union added three more children to his family: Buffy, Jason, and Chad. He loved his family, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his nieces and nephews, meant the world to him. He made each and every one feel that they were his favorite. Brian moved back to the Humboldt area in 2001, living in Watson until his health deteriorated. After living in several different care homes, his last was St. Mary’s Villa in Humboldt. Brian was involved with the Lion’s Club in Makwa for many years and a very willing volunteer. He was always available and gave a hand to any that needed it. So many were proud to call Brian a friend. He will be sadly missed by his children, Denise (Jerome) Pratchler, and Colin (Penny) Harcourt; the mother of Colin and Denise, Alice (Zubot); his step- children: Buffy (Kevin) Maloff, Jason (JoAnne) Maloff, and Chad (Nikki) Maloff; his grandchildren: Amanda, Aaron, and Michelle; Brittany (Ty), and Tanner; Jeremy, Nathan, Adon, and Zachary; Tessa (Jeff); Emily and Riley; Haley and Raini; his great-grandchildren: Meah, Mavrik, and Marley; his siblings: Kevin (Marg) Harcourt, Ellen (Bob) Sagh, Phyllis (Ken) Ferguson, Lois Syroteuk, Laura (Ken) Deibert, Marlene (Darrell) Yaremko, and Shirley (Leon) Pratchler; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Darcee (Gary) Tessum, Cyril (Lois) Syroteuk, Shirley Maddin, and Barb (Bill) Wedhorn. Brian was predeceased by his parents Tom and Nellie (née Casey) Harcourt; brother Gary (Darcee); sister Dorothy, brother-in-law Cyril (Lois), and his ex-wife Colleen (Maddin).
