Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Anna Mary Therres announce her peaceful passing on Saturday, April 18, 2020, at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, Saskatchewan. She was 93 years of age. Anna was born July 23, 1926 to John and Olivia (nee Stauber) Lange on the family farm in the District of Pilger, SK. She grew up there and attended school until completing Grade 8 when she was needed on the farm and so unable to pursue her hopes of a career in teaching. On the weekends, she worked at the telephone office. Anna met the love of her life, Bernard Therres, at a barn dance. On October 22, 1946 they were married and began farming near Romance, SK. Several years later, in 1955, they purchased a farm near Leroy, SK and continued to operate a mixed farm while raising their eight children. It was a busy time, but Anna worked hard and devoted her life to her home and family. She had a huge garden, spent many hours cooking and baking, making quilts and crocheting, decorating cakes and creating crafts. Everyone loved her delicious cinnamon buns and she was famous for her scuffles. In 1972 she began working at the Lerose Lodge in the kitchen and finally retired in 1991, at that time a special care aide. A woman that cared for others at home as well as in her community, Anna was a member of the Catholic Ladies Aid.  After Bernard's passing in 1988, she continued to live in LeRoy until 2003 when Anna sold her home and moved to the Harry Ford Centre in Humboldt. In 2018 she moved to the Quill Plains Centennial Lodge in Watson. She attended as many family events as possible and loved to watch the many activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She especially enjoyed going to the family cabin, The Klondike Inn, at Barrier Lake and spending time with her loved ones, with time for music and singing, especially around the campfire. We have been so blessed to have this amazing lady in our lives and we will truly miss our Mom, Grandma, and Super Grandma. Anna will be lovingly remembered by her eight children: Patricia (Wade) Bell, Dennis Therres (Glenda), Colleen (Ernie) Peters, Kevin Therres (Gwen), Randy Therres (Irene), Charmaine (Alex) Brown, Lane Therres (Gail), Faye (Allan) Korosi; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Lee Bergermann (Jordan); brother-in-law, Arnold Ecker; and sisters-in-law: Hilda Therres, Lorraine McMillan, and Frances Musty. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard; her parents, John and Olivia Lange, siblings and their spouses: Catherine Fugger (Robert), Marie Korte (Fred Jurgens), Bertha Ecker, and Adolph Lange (Bernardine); special cousin, Helen Lavallee; son-in-law, David Wolitski, daughter-in-law, Louise Therres; and grandchildren: Lindsay Therres, Nicholas Brown, Jamie Therres, and Shane Therres. With the current restrictions on gatherings, a private family service was held at the Holy Rosary R.C. Cemetery in Leroy, SK, on Friday, April 24, 2020. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date once we can gather. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Quill Plains Lodge Heritage Garden, (PO Box 459, Watson, SK, S0K 4V0).
