It is with sadness in their hearts that the family of Theodore “Ted” Suer announces his passing on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, Saskatchewan. He was 89 years of age. Ted was born at home on the farm in the Wilmont District, to Louis and Mary (nee Ilg) Suer. He attended Keller School and grew to love hunting, fishing and sports. In 1956, Ted married Rosemarie (nee Langenhoff) on October 9th, at St. Bernard’s R.C. Church, Pilger, SK. Ted’s working career consisted of working in the grain elevator business, as a grain buyer for 35 years, a hail insurance agent for 40 years and as a general insurance agent for 30 years, as well as owning at the Gulf Bulk Fuel business which then became Petro-Canada in Middle Lake, SK, for 25 years.
Volunteerism was very important to Ted. It began very early when he helped to start the Fulda Flyers Baseball Club in 1949, a team he played with, coached and managed for 25 years. He later served on the Middle Lake Board of Trade, Middle Lake Church Council for a few years, the Middle Lake Hall Board for several years, and as the Middle Lake Village Secretary Treasurer from March 1, 1964 to July 30, 1966. As a member of the curling board, Ted helped to put the ice in, and to schedule regular practice and bonspiels for many years. He loved the outdoors and was on the Lucien Lake Fish and Game League Executive for 10 years and Treasurer for four years.
Community was so important to Ted and it showed with his years of support on different boards: 25 years Middle Lake Recreation Board; two years Lucien Lake Golf Club Secretary; Middle Lake Lions Club President, Secretary and Treasurer. Encouraging his boys in sports was shown by his years spent coaching minor baseball, acting as umpire for baseball and fastball, looking after the July 1st Annual Sport’s Day Senior Baseball Draw, getting the ball diamonds ready for many, many years, and serving as the Middle Lake minor hockey treasurer for three years. Ted and Rosemarie moved to Humboldt in 1996, and he continued in his volunteer roles: Humboldt Lions Club Treasurer for 3 years; delivering Meals on Wheels from 1996 for 17 years, and as Chairman of the condo corp. for 12 years. With all his volunteering, Ted still found time for family as he continued hunting, fishing and his sporting activities with his sons and grandkids.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife of almost 64 years, Rosemarie; his son Brian Suer and his family: Trevor (Erin) Suer and children, Seth and Morrisyn; Jennifer (Denny) Evans, and children, Jordyn and Pyper; Megan (Dayton) Klashinsky, and children, Alexis, Clair and Karter; Jared Suer; and Brett (Kaitlin) Suer; his son Brent and Charlotte Suer and their family: Ryan (Bailey) Suer and daughter, Bria; Courtney (Justin) Kuny, and children, Beth, Callie, and Layla; and Chad Suer; his brother, Roman (Marion) Suer; his brother-in-law, Leo Urban; and his brother-in-law, Arnold (Irene) Langenhoff. Ted is predeceased by his parents, Louis and Mary (nee Ilg) Suer; his parents-in-law, Theodore and Mary Langenhoff; his sister, Regina Urban; his sister-in-law, Jeanette Joa; and two great-grandbabies, Tanyon and Saige. The family wishes to express our sincere appreciation and thanks to Dr. Ockbazghi, nurses and staff of the Humboldt District Health Complex for their special care. A Private Family Celebration will be held at a later date.
