John Louis Flasko was born on August 25, 1943, to Mike and Mathilda (née Gregor) Flasko in Tisdale, Saskatchewan. He is the fourth of five children. They lived on the family homestead north of Bjorkdale, SK. A place he really loved. In 1955 they moved south of Carmel, SK. He farmed and worked for Humboldt Auction Mart. He also worked for the local vet, “Doc Millan,” who took him to Gladstone, MB and Grand Valley, ON. He returned to Saskatchewan with his wife Leona and had four children. He worked for Circle R Transport, Big Sky Pork, Stomp Pork Farms, and Sinnett Pork Farm. He moved to LeRoy with Lorretta and their cats. He enjoyed camping, gardening, going for coffee, canning and pickling anything you could fit in a jar. He loved to cook, and especially liked cooking for many people. Everyone enjoyed eating it as well. John began cooking in the late 80’s for “Anyone spending Christmas alone,” gatherings. He continued in the same spirit when he moved to LeRoy by delivering Christmas meals to the needy and lonely. John is survived by his children and their families: Greg (Jennifer), Keira, Alyssa, and Daniel; Lisa (Keith), Sarah and Korbyn; Carla; and Chris, and Emma; his partner Lorretta Horn (and cats Callie, Fonzie, and Zorro); and his sister, Mary McGuire. John is pre-deceased by his father Mike; mother Mathilda; brothers, Nicholas and George; sister, Julianna; and the mother of his children, Leona.
