John was born and raised in Alberta. In 1978, after completing high school, he joined The Royal Canadian Mounted Police. His first posting was to Swift Current. John remained in the province until his retirement in 2008. He then worked at a local business in Humboldt for a number of years. John and his wife Cindy have two daughters. John joined the staff of Schuler-Lefebvre in September of 2015.
