Ken was born August 24, 1951 to Cleo and Lorraine (née Kunz) Crone at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Humboldt, Saskatchewan. Raised on the family farm north of Englefeld, he started farming at a young age. He attended Greenside and Englefeld School. It was during these school years he met many people that went on to be lifelong friends. Ken played hockey with the Englefeld Angels, and Rec Hockey, and he also coached. Even after he stopped playing hockey, Ken remained a devoted hockey fan. Ken married Kathy Kirzinger on April 28, 1973 and settled on the farm. They had three children: Craig, Loriann, and Tracey. Ken and Kathy actively ran a mixed farming operation of hogs and grain for many years, with Cleo and Lorraine. In 1996, Ken decided to focus the farm on crops and moved out of the hog operation. Ken was proud to see the farm started by his father Cleo, in 1947, become a fourth generation farm with his son Craig and grandson Cody working alongside him. Some of his pastimes included listening to country music, following the Edmonton Oilers, and watching a good western. The time he cherished the most was spent with his family and on the farm. Given a choice, he was most at home in a tractor, and many of his children and grandchildren had their first tractor driving lesson with him. Ken will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Kathy, of 48 years; and their three children and four grandchildren: Craig (Pam) Crone and their children Cody and Payton; Loriann (Bryan) Bowman and their children Alex and Erik; and daughter Tracey; as well as his twelve brothers and sisters-in-law; and his close friends. He was predeceased by his parents Cleo and Lorraine, and parents-in-law Robert and Elizabeth.
