Millie was born on May 26, 1943, to Anthony and Mary (nee Albers) Stroeder at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Humboldt, SK, and raised on a farm north of Marysburg, SK. Millie obtained her education from grades 1 to 11 at St. Henry School in Marysburg, and for Grade 12 she attended St. Ursula’s Academy in Bruno, SK, and graduated in 1961. She worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital until 1963. On October 16, 1963, Millie married Raymond “Ray” Hofmann and they made their home on the Hofmann homestead where they raised their family of five, Morris, Doug, Boyd, Todd and Kenda. Millie was always a full-time mom staying very busy with all the activities that came with farming plus activities of raising their children. She was very involved with making sure the kids got to baseball, hockey, piano, dance lessons and anything else that seemed to come along. Millie was also very active in the community. She had a keen interest in education as she was a School Trustee for the Muenster Local School Board for many years serving that board as secretary. She was instrumental in setting up the first Safe Grad program that was established at Muenster School in 1982. Millie also enjoyed classical music, operas and ballets, reading, and in a bit of spare time some curling. In 1997 she obtained her Special Care Aide certificate and was employed at St. Mary’s Villa long-term care facility until 2007. In 2006, Millie and Ray retired and moved to Muenster into a home they designed themselves. In retirement she continued to enjoy reading, always trying to gather knowledge about topics she was passionate about. She continued her gardening, looking after all of the flowers that got planted every year, as well as feeding the birds off her deck in Muenster. Millie’s love and passion for her family and grandchildren was and has been her greatest passion in life. She was more concerned about all of them than herself and her love for them was present right till the end.

Millie is survived by four children and 12 grandchilden: DOUG (Julie) Hofmann and family, Brooklyn, Alyssa and Jenna; BOYD (Gail) Hofmann and family, Brennae, Jaden and Rheanne; TODD (Jill) Hofmann and family, Clara and Faye; and KENDA (Steve) Lieffers and family, Mackenzie and Andrew; and Morris’ children Lauren and Mitchell; five sisters: Grace Bautz, Anne Zelle, Ruth (Benno) Barlage, Karen Ferguson, and Judy (Paul) Ulrich; three brothers: Anthony Jr. (Sandy) Stroeder, Kenneth Stroeder, and Kevin (Allyson) Stroeder; sisters-in-law: Janet Stroeder, Josephine Stroeder, Rose Boltz, Dorothy Hofmann, and Rita Hofmann; and by numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
