Sylvester was born on January 12, 1932, to Peter and Catherine (nee Roth) Krentz in Bruno. He was raised on the family farm north of Bruno, and attended Thiel-Krentz School in the area. In 1952, Sylvester entered the work force at Bruno Hardware. He married Marion Gerling in 1955, and their union was blessed with three children, two daughters and one son. Sylvester began a career as a plumber and gasfitter at the Canadian Forces Station in Dana, where he was employed for 24 years. He then owned and operated his own business, Syl’s Plumbing and Heating, until 2005.

Sylvester will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife, MARION (nee Gerling) Krentz; three children and their families: SHERRY Krentz (Dwayne); BRENDA Weiman (Leslie) and family, Kristen Weiman (Pat) and children Kinley, John, and Kabri, and Darnell Weiman (Kristina) and children Cohen and Rielle; BOB Krentz (Tammy) and family, Joel Krentz, and Kalee Krentz-Sveinbjornson (Dylan) and children Khloe and Zoe; three sisters and one brother: Marion Richardson, Bernie (Annella) Krentz, Diane (Ken) Megyesi, and Kathy (Len) Steckler; and by numerous nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Catherine (nee Roth) Krentz; and by five brothers and three sisters: Edward Krentz, Bernadette Krentz, Francis Krentz, Florence Yungwirth, Joe Krentz, Ray Krentz, Dennis Krentz, and Geraldine Kalinski.
