Willie was born on January 29, 1934, in Lake Lenore, SK. He was the youngest of two sons born to John and Catherine (nee Mehr) Sarauer. Their family also included Marge (Koenig) Komonoski, a cousin who lived with them for 12 years after the death of her parents. John and Catherine moved to St. Gregor in 1935 where Willie attended school until he went on to complete his electrical and plumbing trades certifications in Saskatoon. Following trade school, he returned to St. Gregor where he went into business as Western Electric. On August 16, 1958, Willie married the love of his life Evelyn Meyer of Annaheim, SK. Willie and Evelyn continued to reside in St. Gregor where they transformed their business into Western Industries in 1967 that included manufacturing of agricultural equipment. As the business grew, they relocated it to Highway 5 where they continued to manufacture grain boxes, drill fills and Travel Lite truck toppers. Community was important to Willie as he participated in many activities, including being a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, being part of the operation of the water treatment plant, and construction of the community hall and bowling alley. Willie had the great fortune of making many lifelong friends through both his business and community involvement activities. Willie and Evelyn sold Western Industries in 1981 and moved to Humboldt in 1986. Throughout the years, Willie enjoyed golfing, curling, fishing, snowmobiling, bowling, and doing many woodworking projects for his family. Willie loved to spend time at the cabin with his family, grandchildren, and friends at Marean, Candle and Greenwater lakes, which included fishing, boating, and tubing. Willie and Evelyn were able to enjoy many trips south to escape the winter, as well as other travels including the Vatican and Vimy ridge. In his later years, Willie enjoyed playing cards, board games, puzzles, Sudoku, Word Find, and day trips with friends. He enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, making sure the feeders were always full. Most importantly, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought immense joy to his life. He very much enjoyed spending time with them and traveling to their various sporting activities. Willie will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 65 years, Evelyn; their three children, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: Calvin ( Joyce†) Sarauer and family, Kaitlynn, Emily, Richard (Dana) McHattie their children, Charlotte and Harrison; Dawn (George) Blanch and family, Naomi (Joe) Monsoor and their children, Abby, Georgia and Michael; Jessica (Jonathon) Michel and their children, Henrik and Elle, and Kelsey (Taylor Frie); Darcy (Carmen) Sarauer and family, Casey (Troy Helgert), Kelli, and Cole; brothers-in-law: Orville Meyer, Ray (Gloria) Meyer and Erwin Meyer; sister-in- law, Irene Sarauer; and many nieces and nephews. Willie was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Joyce Sarauer; parents, John and Catherine; brother, Arnold; parent-in-laws, Paul and Elizabeth Meyer; brothers-in-law: Clifford and Lloyd Meyer; and sisters-in-law: Delphine, Bernice, and Marilynn Meyer.
